Highlights from ART ASIA Miami 2008:
- 44 galleries from 17 countries participated in the inaugural fair.
- Academic programming featured 11 museum quality discussions and panels led by distinguished speakers such as Jerome Sans (Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art), Dr. Vishakha N. Desai (Asia Society), Professor Wu Hung (University of Chicago), and Richard Vine (Art in America).
- In conjunction with sister fair SCOPE, ART ASIA drew over 30,000 visitors over its 5 day run.
- Over 2,500 VIP attendants with celebrities including Charles Saatchi, Melva Bucksbaum, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Richard and Eileen Ekstract, Michael and Susan Hort, Stephanie Ignacio, Arnold Lehman, Todd Oldham, and Takashi Murakami.
- 97% of the participating galleries reported meeting new clients.
- 72% of the participating galleries reported sales and most of them to new clients.
- VIP party at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami attracted over 1,200 VIP clients and journalists.
- Specially designed guided tours of ART ASIA for art world institutions such as RBC Financial Group, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Boca Raton Museum of Art, Miami Art Museum, Christie's Education, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Corcoran Gallery of Art, National Gallery of Art, The Phillips Collection, Smithsonian American Art Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, and Art in Embassies.
