BROADENS THE UNDERSTANDING OF ASIAN CONTEMPORARY ART

Miami, November 30–December 4: ART ASIA, the premiere art fair dedicated to promoting contemporary Asian art, unveils its fourth edition with new and exceptional present-day work from Asian artists around the globe.

Since 2008, ART ASIA has hosted fairs in Miami and Basel, and become the leading forum for international galleries, curators, artists, collectors, and educators to exchange ideas and experience work from across the entire Asian Diaspora. ART ASIA Miami 2011 ushers in its fourth edition with an emphasis on Near Eastern, Middle Eastern, and South East Asian artists—as always, with the intent to broaden the understanding of Asian contemporary art.

The 2011 fair will host the popular ART ASIA Presents, with five special projects: Fang Li Jun’s Mu Ban Shui Yin, co-produced by Ethan Cohen Fine Arts (New York, USA) and PACE Prints (New York, USA); Abdallah Akar’s One Thousand and One Nights, curated by Galerie Kashya Hilderbrand (Zurich, Switzerland); Emerging Voices from Iran and Iranian Diaspora, with artists Soody Shafir, Hadieh Shafie, Aghighi Bakhshayesh, Maryam Ashkanian, Asad Faulwell, Sissi Farassat, curated by Galerie Kashya Hilderbrand (Zurich, Switzerland); Yigit Yazici’s sculpture project Journey Home, curated by Hat Art Fruit (Istanbul, Turkey); and Laurens Tan’s Happy Toy, curated by Tally Beck Contemporary (Bangkok, Thailand / New York, USA).

ART ASIA is also delighted to welcome these newcomer galleries to the fair: AiBo Fine Asian Art (Rye, NY, USA / Hanoi, Vietnam), Crimson Gate (Miami, FL, USA), FEAST Projects (Hong Kong), Galerie Ora-Ora (Honk Kong), KIMJAESUN Gallery (Busan, Korea), Tally Beck Contemporary (Bangkok, Thailand / New York, NY, USA), and Zadok Gallery (Miami, FL, USA).

This year ART ASIA celebrates and honors our mission to present the best of established and emerging contemporary artists from throughout Asia, uniting a vibrant, growing community of international artists and enthusiasts.
