ART ASIA Miami 2012 Concludes Its Fifth Year with Strong Sales and VIP Attendance

ART ASIA Miami 2012, the premier International Asian art fair, opened on December 4th and successfully concluded its fifth edition on December 9th, 2012 with strong sales and attendance. ART ASIA attracted over 35,000 visitors and VIP guests all through its six-day run. With impressive international newcomer galleries joining, it was an exceptional showcase of art from diverse Asian regions with an emphasis on Near Eastern, Middle Eastern, and South East Asian artists.

ART ASIA Miami 2012 proudly continued our innovative and exhilarating ART AISA Presents series with seven special projects featuring works by 30 artists. For the first time in our five-year history, a special section was dedicated to contemporary art from the South Asian subcontinent - Salaam Bombay: Beauty And Chaos Within The Urban Environment, curated by Jasmine Wahi, the New York-based independent curator and the co-founder of Project For Empty Space.

Other ART ASIA Presents highlights included Laurens Tan's Babalogic, presented by Tally Beck Contemporary (New York); Qin Weihong's Gurdians, presented by Art Lexing (Miami); Pratima Björkdahl's Mix+Match (2012) and Fay Ku's Paper Tiger Army (2012), presented by Uprise Art (New York); Marlene Rose's Through Ancient Eyes, presented by GB-Aibo Asian Art (New York); Monica Johan Bose's Indelible Scent and Preema Nazia Andaleeb's Marry My Egg, curated by Gallery Cosmos (Bangladesh).

ART ASIA's featured exhibitors come from seven countries and 16 cities. Newcomer galleries Gallery M(Miami), UPRISE ART (New York), ROW Gallery (Gyeongju-si), Chung Jark Gallery(Seoul), Beautiful Asset(Beijing), Cosmos Gallery (Bangladesh), Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts (New York) and gallerysnow(Bangladesh) showcased both established and new artists alike, such as Simon Ma, Equus Gazing, Fay Ku and Young-Ill Lee, and reported successful sales at ART ASIA 2012. "We sold ten pieces altogether; it was exceptional," remarked Song Hwi of ROW Gallery.

Returning exhibitors GB-AiBo Asian Art (New York), Eli Klein Fine Art (New York), Tally Beck Contemporary (New York), Galerie GAIA (Seoul) and ART LEXING (Miami) reported triumphant sales for Liu Bolin, island6, Tran Huy Hoan, Nguyen Van Cuong, Le Thanh Son, Jin Sook Kim, Quentin Shih, and Prabir Purkayastha. Eli Klein of Eli Klein Fine Art stated, "For the fifth straight year we had a terrific experience at Art Asia. Our booth exclusively featured Liu Bolin's Hiding in New York series. We sold editions of every photo displayed. We also sold Liu Bolin's Man in Fist sculpture priced at $32,000".

Many new collectors were also impressed by the quality of our paintings and the sandcast glass sculptures by Marlene Rose we had on display. It is apparent that more and more collectors are being drawn to the ever expanding Asian Art World as Art Asia gives them the opportunity to see a diverse collection by various galleries in one show," remarked Glenn Aber of GB-AiBo Asian Art.

ART ASIA Miami 2012 was featured in major publications including The New York Times, The Miami Herald, and GalleristNY. Collector Adam Lindemann spoke highly of ART ASIA by describing us as "amazing" and "couldn't be beat". The Fair was also highlighted as a must-see in the high-profile media including ART INFO, Art-Collecting.com, Art Facts, and Artnet.

Meanwhile, ART ASIA continues its active presence on social media. As of December 18, 2012, our Facebook page is liked by 6,190 people from around the world, Facebook posts reaching 37,981 people during the six-day run.
